My name is Esmeralda Sandovaland I am the site coordinator at Garden Heights Elementary. I was born in Tijuana, Baja, California but raised in Tampa, Florida. I graduated from Central Washington University with a major in Social Services and a minor in Psychology. I am currently working towards my MEd in School Counseling.
Growing up, I was a migrant student and struggled significantly; there were many barriers, including language, frequent school transitions, and limited access to resources. These experiences shaped my passion for working with students who face systemic obstacles and inspired my commitment to advocacy, equity, and student well-being. As a site coordinator, I strive to create supportive, inclusive environments where students and families feel seen, valued, and empowered. My background as a first-generation college graduate and former migrant student informs my approach to education and I am deeply motivated to support students in navigating academic, social-emotional, and personal challenges as they work toward their goals.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me out for a walk, hiking or biking, tending to my plants, or spending time with my family. I’m also proudly my children’s number one fan.
