My name is Richard Byrd and I am currently the Site Coordinator at Knolls Vista Elementary in Moses Lake. I was born and raised in Snoqualmie, WA, attended college at Lee University in Cleveland, TN and currently live in Moses Lake. Before coming to Communities in Schools of North Central Washington in August 2024, I worked in newspapers for almost a decade. As a summer job I am the deck boss on a commercial fishing boat that fishes for sockeye salmon in Bristol Bay, AK. I am passionate about helping children succeed and helping them realize their potential.
I am an avid Seattle Seahawks and Seattle Mariners (as painful as that is) fan and pledge my college rooting allegiance to the University of Washington. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and doing anything outdoors, like kayaking, biking, fishing and hiking/backpacking.
