Rufus Woods is the publisher emeritus of The Wenatchee World, which was owned and operated by his family from 1907 until 2018. He graduated from Wenatchee High School, earned a BA from the University of Puget Sound and a master’s degree in business from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College.

His family has been deeply involved in the arts scene in North Central Washington for many years and the Woods Family Music and Arts Fund provides $60,000 in grants annually to support innovative programs. His work as a journalist has been highlighted by a passion for building stronger communities and he developed a blog dedicated to that proposition – artofcommunityncw.com

He believes that communities ought to find a balanced approach to community building that includes strong arts, education, environment, recreation as well as social services that meet the needs of those who struggle. He serves on the board of trustees for the Wenatchee YMCA and the board of trustees of the Community Foundation of North Central Washington. In his spare time, he can be found cycling, paddling, and hiking in the great outdoors.
