My name is Adolfo Vela but I go by Bofo. I was born in Ciudad Juarez when I was 4 migrated to the U.S. I was raised in Orondo , WA and moved to Waterville my freshman year of high school. I earned my AA at WVC and pursued higher education by attaining my BA at Eastern Washington University in psychology. I worked a couple months for a non-profit in Wenatchee and now working for another non-profit in CIS. I am excited to be part of this organization and team. I am looking forward to working in the school I graduated from and received CIS support.
I believe every students voice is valuable. It is important for students to be seen and heard. You don’t know the battle students are facing whether that is in school or outside of school. It is super influential to connect with students and walk alongside of them during their time in school. Having a CIS site coordinator during my senior year of high school was really impactful. I see the support I received and how important it was for me to work one on one with someone who cares about my education and cares how I am doing on a day-to-day basis.
Outside of work, I enjoy fishing, paddleboarding, camping. I also enjoy being part of the community. I enjoy attending life group every Wednesday and church on Sunday. I also enjoy watching sports and playing sports. I enjoy hanging out with my friends and most importantly spending time with my family
